Jamshedpur: IACC-IIMM ESG seminar sheds light on Corporate Responsibility

Jamshedpur, Dec 9: The Indo American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) Jamshedpur Chapter, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) Jamshedpur branch, organized its flagship Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) seminar at the Auditorium of Russi Mody Centre for Excellence on December 9.

The primary aim of the seminar was to delve into the realms of social, environmental, and governance management within the corporate landscape.

The event commenced with the customary lighting of lamps, setting the tone for a day of insightful discussions. Siddharth Dash, Chairman of IIMM, delivered the welcome address, and Rana Das, VP East, IIMM, underscored the pivotal role of IIMM while highlighting its notable achievements.

During the technical session, Sudipta Das, Former Regional President of IACC, elucidated the contemporary relevance of ESG in society. Suyash Saraogi, President of Strategy and Projects at APAR Industries, and SG Khune, Senior VP at Graphite India, shared valuable insights into their companies’ efforts in achieving ESG goals. Emphasizing that ESG goes beyond Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), they pointed out how such initiatives can mitigate risk exposure and enhance profitability.

Cdr Sanjeev Raman, Chairman of IACC, emphasized the intrinsic connection between the concept of giving back to society. Drawing parallels with the prosperity of Indian merchants and traders in ancient times, he highlighted the ethical behavior and environmental consciousness that garnered societal trust. Raman noted that the global adoption of these principles reflects positively on India.

Neelesh Kumar, Secretary of IIMM Jamshedpur branch, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants. The program coordinator, Sharat Chandran of IACC Jamshedpur, ensured the seamless execution of the event.

The seminar also featured a dynamic panel discussion that welcomed questions from an engaged audience, fostering a collaborative dialogue on the critical issues of ESG within the corporate sector.
