Jamshedpur hottest in Jharkhand at 43.1°C

Jamshedpur, April 24: Steel City continues to reel under intense heat as it emerged as the hottest city in Jharkhand on Thursday, recording a maximum temperature of 43.1 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi.

The weather remained dry across the state, including the Kolhan region, over the last 24 hours. Daltonganj followed closely behind with a high of 43°C, while Chaibasa recorded 42.9°C, Bokaro at 42.1°C, and Pakur at 40.8°C. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Gumla at 15.2°C.

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand from the Ranchi centre issued a heatwave alert for several districts on Friday, warning residents to take necessary precautions. However, a shift in weather conditions is expected from April 26, with forecasts of lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds in various parts of the state.

Other notable temperatures on Thursday included: Ranchi (38.4°C), Chatra (38.5°C), Garhwa and Godda (40.6°C), Hazaribagh and Simdega (38.6°C), Jamtara (39.0°C), Jagannathpur (39.7°C), Khunti (37.8°C), and Lohardaga (37.5°C).

Authorities have advised the public to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.
