Jamshedpur, April 22: In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the police have apprehended Suku Mahakud, who was allegedly involved in the buying and selling of ganja at a hotel situated in Balidipa Daan, under the jurisdiction of Kowali police station. A total of 1.64 kg of ganja was seized from Suku during the operation.
Rural SP Rishabh Garg disclosed the details of the operation on Monday, highlighting that the police acted upon receiving confidential information regarding the illicit ganja trade at a hotel in Balidipa village. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid, resulting in the arrest of Suku Mahakud.
The seized contraband, amounting to 1.64 kg, holds a market value of Rs 50 thousand. Further investigations revealed information about a prominent ganja smuggler, prompting ongoing efforts to apprehend the individual.
Rural SP Garg emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the election period, with continuous raids being conducted to uphold the electoral code of conduct. Notably, a significant amount of cash totaling Rs 40 lakh and liquor valued at Rs 10-12 lakh have been seized from rural areas in recent operations.
