Jamshedpur hospital owner remanded to jail

Jamshedpur, May 24: The owner of the 111 Save LIfe Hospital, Dr O. P Anand was sent to judicial custody on Monday after being produced before Court by the Seraikela police. 

Earlier, after the arrest on Sunday evening Dr Anand was put for health examination after interrogation before being produced in Court. 

Cases under several section of IPC including obstructing public servants from discharge of duty, abusing health minister and medical negligence leading to murder has been lodged against the owner at RIT Thana. 

Earlier on Monday, drugs control department raided the house of Dr Anand and recovered an ambulance full of medicines from his residence and lodged another case at the RIT thana. The team also questioned wife of Dr Anand .

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy reached the house of Dr Anand to know the truth. Incidentally, Saryu Roy had written a letter  to chief minister on Sunday requesting to stop closure of the hospital during Covid panemic and sort out the issue between Dr Anand and the health department but the doctor was arrested on Sunday night and on Monday sent to jail.  

Later in the evening Saryu Roy sent a statement to media alleged that a three member health department team has come to the same hospital on May 15 too and in its report on May 17 said that the hospital authorities cooperated during the probe and showed all documents. 

However, on May 18 a new team went for another round of probe at the same hospital.

“The question is whether a hospital can give question to the posers in how many days. It seems there was a ploy to disturb Dr Anand. 

There was a probe on the basis of complaint lodged by Sweta Shah, Jyotsana Jha and Priti Kumari   against and the hospital was asked to give reply to their question within 24 hours.
