Jamshedpur Coronavirus: Recovery rate climbs to over 93% as daily infections continue to slump

Jamshedpur records 258 infections, 385 recoveries, 5 deaths, active cases down to 2500

Jamshedpur, May 24: As the number of daily Covid cases emerging in Jamshespur have dropped over the last fortnight, the district’s recovery rate has also seen a jump, rising to 93.39 percent as of Monday, May 24. According to data available with the health department, 15 days ago, this figure was around 78 percent.

After recording a surge in Covid cases from the end of March and all through April, the number of new cases emerging in Jamshedpur everyday have seen a drop over the last two weeks. 

On Monday, the number of new cases that emerged in Jamshedpur dropped below 300, as 258 people tested positive – this despite 5,890 people being tested. The number of recoveries on the day, meanwhile, outnumbered the number of new cases, with 385 people recovering from the infection.

The number of fatalities, after peaking in the first week of May have also dropped this week. For the last two days, less than 10 people have succumbed to the infection and the district seems set to record a drop in weekly count of fatalities this week.

Officials from the district administration said they are focusing on a strategy of testing, tracing, and treatment to control the Covid surge.
It appears to be early signs that the more dangerous Covid wave is receding from the city. The Steel City’s case positivity rate has also dropped to 5.53 percent. 

The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 5.53 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 5500 tests in the last 24 hours. 

The Steel City tested 5890 samples, of which, 258 turned out positive while 385 people recovered from the Covid-19 on Monday, May 24.

Meanwhile, 5 deaths were recorded in the same duration. The continuous high number of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 5.53 per cent, the government data showed.

The recovery rate has climbed to 93.39% while the active cases have come down to 2500

385 positive people recovered of the virus on Monday pushing the recovery mark to 45732.


City reported 5 deaths on Monday while district’s positive cases tally has mounted to 49226. According to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Monday 5 fatalities were due to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours. The death toll has climbed to 994. 

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 334669 test per million in the district. 


Over 5500 COVID-19 tests, including 2120 RT-PCR and 3448 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 93.39% while the mortality rate is 2.02%.

So far in Jamshedpur 891695 samples have been collected out of which 890888 have been tested and 841662 have turned out to be negative.
