Workshops boost gardeners’ knowledge, skills: Sailaja Ramam
Jamshedpur, July 13: The Horticultural Society of Jamshedpur organized a one-day workshop on “General Gardening” for gardeners at the SNTI Auditorium on Sunday. The workshop, held free of cost, drew over 70 participants from various parts of the city, and was specially curated to address the practical needs and challenges faced by gardeners in their day-to-day work.
Chief Guest Sailaja Sundar Ramam in her address praised the efforts of the gardening community and said, “Workshops like these boost gardeners’ knowledge and skills and help them manage gardens more effectively.” She added that the session would enhance their understanding and enable them to tackle practical issues more confidently.
Society President Sumita Nupur emphasized the uniqueness of the workshop and applauded the enthusiasm of the attending gardeners. “This is a rare opportunity designed exclusively for those who work diligently to maintain the city’s green spaces,” she said.
The workshop featured two expert speakers: Anil Kumar Vidyarthi, Senior Horticulturist at Tata Steel Ltd, and Dr. Dhananjay Chaubey, former Chief Horticulturist at M/s Palishree Ltd and current Proprietor of Jamshedpur Agri Business.
Vidyarthi provided detailed guidance on skill development in general gardening, covering topics like soil media, plantation techniques, plant care, propagation, organic pest control, and irrigation practices. Dr. Chaubey focused on plant identification, common maintenance errors, and best practices for pruning, fertilization, and repotting. Both speakers actively engaged with the participants and answered their queries during the interactive session.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. Emcee Jyoti Hansda, who had conducted the session and introduced the speakers, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all participants and contributors for making the event a resounding success.
