Jamshedpur, July 22: A home guard, identified as Rahul Singh, posted at MGM Hospital allegedly strangulated his wife Nikita Singh (24) to death on Thursday. He is at large ever since he took his wife’s body to Tinplate Hospital, police said.
Sources said Rahul went traceless after leaving his wife’s body in the hospital late yesterday night. While leaving, Rahul reportedly told the hospital staff he was going to withdraw cash from ATM. Thereafter, Rahul did not return, leading the hospital authorities to call police.
Police raided Rahul’s residence late night but failed to get him. They came to know that Rahul had taken his wife to MGM Hospital yesterday afternoon. The accused allegedly assaulted his wife in a van parked on the hospital premises and was noticed by few passers-by who tried to stop him.
Saroj Devi, mother of the deceased, alleged that Rahul had murdered her daughter for dowry. Nikita and Rahul got married in October 2020 following a love affair. Cash worth Rs 2 lakh was given to Rahul in dowry, said Saroj Devi.
Saroj Devi said she had spoken to her daughter at 9.30 pm yesterday. Nikita is survived by her two kids.
