Jamshedpur: Tension escalated in Hitku Panchayat under Sundernagar police station limits in Jamshedpur block after villagers alleged encroachment on a government access road at Narwa Pahad. Residents from opposing sides entered into a standoff, raising fears of a possible violent clash.
The dispute revolves around land at Bana Dugri, recorded under Khata No. 208 and Plot No. 1115. Villagers alleged that a boundary wall is being constructed by encroaching on a government road, restricting public access. The construction triggered strong protests, with locals demanding immediate administrative action.
Officials from the Jamshedpur Circle Office conducted a land measurement following concerns raised by former District Council Chairperson Bulu Rani Singh, who urged authorities to intervene before the situation worsens.
During the measurement, villagers openly opposed the construction of the boundary wall on what they claim is public land. They demanded that the administration stop the fencing work being carried out by landowner Kiran Soren, wife of Asha Ram Soren, alleging that the construction is illegal and blocks a government pathway used by the community.
The standoff has intensified tensions in the area, with both sides refusing to back down. The situation remains volatile, and residents fear that it could turn violent if authorities fail to act promptly.
Villagers have urged the district administration to take swift and decisive steps to remove the alleged encroachment and restore normalcy. Authorities are now under pressure to defuse the situation before it escalates further.
