Jamshedpur, July 3: Himanshu Bikash Chakraborty and Asha Kumari emerged as champions in the LIC Divisional Chess Tournament 2025, held from July 2 to 3 at LIE Sports Club, Bistupur, Jamshedpur. The tournament featured a total of eight participants—six in the men’s category and two in the women’s category.
In the men’s final, Himanshu Bikash Chakraborty clinched the championship title by defeating Kartik Chandra Das in a decisive match. Ashok Das secured third place in the category.
The women’s competition was conducted in a best-of-three format. Asha Kumari displayed exceptional skill by winning all three matches against Rashmi Samal, earning her the champion’s title.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by K. Meenakshi, Manager (Personnel), G. Ravishankar, Honorary Secretary of LIE Sports Club, and D.P. Balmiki, Treasurer of the Club. International Arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad served as the Chief Arbiter for the tournament.
The top two players from both categories will now represent the division in the upcoming LIC Regional Chess Tournament. The event concluded with accolades and applause for all participants and winners.
