Jamshedpur, Dec 12: A delegation of Sanatan Utsav Samiti met the state Health Minister Banna Gupta on Monday and apprised him of the alleged brutality meted out to them by the city police.
Leading the delegation, Chintu Singh said the police had stopped the construction of Hanuman Mandir near Basant Central, Sakchi, late night a couple of days back and also lathicharged the outfit members. He alleged that certain anti-Hindu elements were opposing the temple construction. He alleged that the construction was stopped at the behest of Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy. He said the temple was situated in Jamshedpur West constituency and sought a high-level probe into the lathicharge incident.
Chintu Singh claimed that Banna Gupta had assured the Sanatan Utsav Samiti of every possible support in completing the temple construction. The Minister also reportedly assured to take action against the errant cops responsible for the lathicharge.
The delegation members also included Appu Tiwary who praised Gupta for his support and assurance.
