Jamshedpur: To promote environmental protection and waste management, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) is launching an awareness campaign in city schools. The program will train children in government schools on disaster management techniques, environmental protection, and waste segregation through mock drills.

As part of the initiative, children will not only learn the importance of separating wet and dry waste but also how to make compost from wet waste. The children will then implement these practices at home by educating their parents on how to segregate waste and create compost, helping to reduce the city’s overall waste disposal burden. The compost can also be used to nourish plants in homes and neighbourhoods, contributing to greener surroundings.

Krishan Kumar, deputy municipal commissioner, JNAC, emphasized that educating school children about waste management would help reduce the strain on the city’s waste disposal system and support the cleanliness efforts under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
