Jamshedpur: Good Samaritan law highlighted in Road Safety campaign 

Jamshedpur: An awareness campaign is being conducted in various educational and training institutes as per the instructions of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal to make the youth aware of road safety, to follow traffic rules, and to stay safe while driving. As part of this initiative, information related to road safety was provided to students at Patmda Degree College and Inter College, Jalla.

During the awareness campaign, about 500 students were educated about road safety and traffic rule compliance. The youth were informed about road safety rules, and two-wheeler drivers and their co-passengers were advised to wear helmets, while four-wheeler riders were advised to wear seat belts. An appeal was made to protect oneself and one’s family by regularly following traffic rules, wearing helmets, and using seat belts.

The youth were also educated about the rules and methods of obtaining a driving license. They were advised not to drive without a license before the age of 18, not to use mobile phones while driving, to always help the injured, to give way to emergency vehicles, to follow traffic signals and signs, and to have high-security number plates installed on their vehicles. Emphasis was placed on always adhering to traffic rules.

Additionally, detailed information was provided about the provisions of compensation payment in GOOD SAMARITAN and hit-and-run cases. A quiz competition was organized at the end of the session, and students who answered correctly were honored with helmets.

The awareness program was attended by Traffic DSP Sanjay Kumar Singh, Road Safety Manager Prakash Kumar Giri, Road Engineering Analyst Naveen Kumar, and others.
