Jamshedpur, Oct 15: East Singhbhum district education department here launched a probe into the incident involving alleged disrobing of a class 9 girl (name not revealed) of Shardamani Girls High School, Sakchi, by one of her class teachers during an exam on Friday.
“A four member team led by the District Superintendent of Education (DSE) of East Singhbhum would conduct the probe and submit its report within 48 hours. Stern action would be taken against the guilty in this case, said District Education Officer (DEO) Nirmala Kumari Barelia.
Meanwhile, the condition of the girl, who attempted self-immolation after pouring kerosene on herself yesterday evening, was reportedly critical on Saturday. The girl had taken the extreme step reportedly after feeling humiliated by the invigilator, Chandra Das, during her Science exam at school. She was allegedly asked to remove her clothes after being reportedly caught cheating during the exam. She was taken to MGM Hospital with severe burns. Education department is trying its best to ensure best treatment for the girl, sources said.
