Jamshedpur Gangster Akhilesh Singh acquitted in murder inside Ghaghidih Jail for lack of evidence

Jamshedpur, Mar 12: The court of Additional district and session judge Prabhakar Singh on Friday acquitted gangster Akhilesh Singh for lack of evidence in connection with the murder of rival gangster Paramjit Singh inside Ghaghidih Central Jail on March 20, 2009.  
Delivering the judgement, the court said that the petitioner legal counsel failed provide evidence against Akhilesh Singh who was accused as the main conspirator behind the murder as Akhilesh Singh was absconding when the crime took place inside the jail premises. 
Significantly, the court had earlier awarded life imprisonment to Bhola Singh and Manoranjan Singh in the same case and both are on bail from the Jharkhand High Court. 
On Friday, the petitioner side legal counsel, Jai Prakash and Priyanka Singhal were present while from the accused side lawyer Vidya Singh and G. K Ghosh were present int eh court. 
Significantly, on March 20, 2009 Paramjit Singh was shot dead inside the jail premises over personal enmity and battle of supremacy. 


In retaliation, members of Paramjit Singh faction attacked on members of Akhilesh Singh gang and beat up Gautam Singh to death. On the basis of complaint of Burmamines resident Harpal Singh Heere cases were lodged against Akhilesh Singh, Manoj Singh alias Bhola Singh, Manoranjan Singh and others at the Parsudih thana. During the time of the murder, Harpal Singh was lodged in the same jail and during hearing in the court, Harpal Singh had refused to identify Akhilesh Singh who was arrested from Delhi in 2017.
