Jamshedpur: Friday holiday for Urdu schools

Jamshedpur, Jan 9: A delegation of Congress leaders led by Maulana Ansar Khan met the state Health Minister Banna Gupta at his Kadma residence on Monday and handed over a memorandum to him demanding that Friday be declared as the weekly holiday in all Urdu schools of the district. He said the word ‘Urdu’ was removed from the names of Urdu medium schools of the district and the Friday holiday was changed to Sunday. He claimed that there were many schools were cent per cent students were from Muslim community and Urdu-speaking. He said the directive issued by the office of the district education department be revoked.
