City Police Heighten Security For Jamshedpur Founder’s Day

Shakti Squad to Combat Eve-Teasing

Jamshedpur: In preparation for the 187th Founder’s Day celebrations on March 3rd, the Jamshedpur Police have implemented a massive security blanket across the city. Authorities have divided Jubilee Park and its surrounding areas into 12 specialized security zones to manage the influx of thousands of visitors.

Strict Vigilance and Zonal Command

City SP Kumar Shivashish announced that each of the 12 zones will be under the direct command of a Sub-Inspector rank officer. These zonal leads are responsible for maintaining order and preventing any anti-social activities within their designated perimeters.

“Our primary focus is the safety of the citizens visiting Jubilee Park,” SP Shivashish stated. “Zone officers must maintain constant communication with the central control room and senior officials to ensure a rapid response to any incident.”

Plainclothes Officers and Specialized Units

To catch pickpockets and snatchers red-handed, the police will deploy a significant number of personnel in civilian clothing. This undercover team includes both male and female officers who will blend into the crowds in high-traffic areas.

Key Security Measures:

  • Special Patrol Teams: A dedicated mobile unit will conduct continuous patrolling around the periphery of Jubilee Park.
  • Shakti Squad: To ensure the safety of women and prevent eve-teasing, the ‘Shakti Squad’—a specialized all-women police team—will be on high alert to take immediate action against offenders.
  • Anti-Snatching Drills: Officers have received specific orders to monitor known hotspots for petty crimes and mobile snatching.

Public Advisory: Safety and Traffic

The City SP has urged Jamshedpur residents to cooperate with the police to ensure a smooth celebration. He issued the following guidelines for March 3rd:

  1. Parking: Park vehicles only in designated official parking lots. Do not leave bikes on the roadside, as they obstruct traffic and are vulnerable to theft.
  2. Anti-Theft: Use chain locks for two-wheelers even in parking areas.
  3. Vigilance: Remain alert in crowded spaces. If you witness suspicious behavior or an emergency, dial 112 immediately for instant police assistance.
  4. Traffic Rules: Follow all traffic signals and diversions to avoid congestion around the park entrance.
