Jamshedpur: Former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh’s brother-in-law Kanhaiya Singh shot dead in Adityapur

Jamshedpur, June 30: Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh alias Malkhan Singh, was shot dead by three assailants at the entrance of his house in Hari Om Nagar, Road No. 5, near Shiv Mandir under Adityapur police station jurisdiction in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, on Wednesday, June 29 at around 10.30 pm, police said.

Kanhaiya was soon rushed to Tata Main Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to sources, killers were waiting for Kanhaiya to arrive and as he was about to enter his house they fired several rounds and soon the victim fell down after being hit by bullets as they kept firing from the rifle, triggering chaos.

After getting information, Vijay Shankar Jamshedpur City SP also reached TMH and inquired about the matter.

Seraikela SP Anand Prakash visited TMH and the crime scene and has formed several teams which are looking for the possible escape routes of the killers.


According to the officer-in-charge of Adityapur police station, Rajan Kumar, the victim’s driver told the police that he had seen three people, all faces covered, fleeing the building, when he was parking Singh’s car on the ground floor.


The officer also said that the identities of the killers have been established with the help of CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene.
We are investigating the matter from all possible angles. The killers will be nabbed soon, he stated.

Adityapur police registered an FIR against unidentified persons on the information of Archana Singh, wife of the deceased. One of the assailants held a pistol in his hand while the other two held choppers. When Archana raised an alarm on seeing the murder, the culprits ran down the stairs to escape. Kanhaiya’s bodyguard Mrityunjay Kumar Singh and drier Mukesh ran saw the killers running away. They took Kanhaiya to TMH with the help of neighbours.

Adityapur police identify killers of Kanhaiya Singh

Jamshedpur, June 30: Adityapur police have got vital clues into the murder of Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh, in Hariom Nagar yesterday. They said the culprits would soon be behind the bars.

Sources said police were close to solving the case and that they may soon address media on their breakthrough in the case.

Kanhaiya Singh, a 52-year-old contractor and businessman was reportedly shot dead by three assailants on his return from work when he was about to enter his flat on the third floor of a residential building around 9.45 pm on Wednesday.
On hearing the gunshot, neighbours came out and rushed Singh to Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur, but doctors there declared him ‘brought dead’.

Meanwhile, supporters of Arvind Kumar Singh, a three-time legislator from Ichagarh constituency of Seraikela-Kharswan district, and other local political leaders, cutting across party lines, took to the streets during the day, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
About ten incidents of murder have been reported in Adityapur in the last three months, creating a sense of fear and insecurity among common people, some of the demonstrators said.

Kodas blame poor law and order for Kanhaiya’s murder

Jamshedpur, June 30: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda Thursday blamed the state government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Reacting to the murder of contractor Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh, the couple said Adityapur had witnessed a spurt in gruesome crimes like murder.

“This entire region has become a den of criminals and their illegal activities. This clearly shows the poor law and order situation,” said the former CM.

Geeta Koda said she would demand strong measures on part of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and local MLA Champai Soren to improve the law and order situation in Adityapur and other parts of Seraikela-Kharsawan.

The couple visited the residence of Arvind Singh at Adityapur on coming to know about the murder. Many friends and well-wishers of the former Ichagarh MLA met him at his residence where the mortal remains of Kanhaiya Singh were brought after autopsy. Former state BJP spokesperson Amarpreet Singh Kale and Deputy Chairman of Adityapur Municipal Corporation Amit Singh Bobby were also present. The body of Kanhaiya Singh was sent to his native place at Samastipur in an ambulance for cremation.

Murder committed to harm me: Ex-MLA Arvind Singh

Jamshedpur, June 30: Former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh Thursday claimed that his brother-in-law Kanhaiya Singh was killed with the intention to harm him. He said he would ensure that the killers are identified soon.

Raising fingers on the efficacy of district police, he said, “Policing in the area has completely failed. Whatever may the police do in this case, I would find out the truth on my own.”

Kanhaiya Singh was shot dead by three armed assailants in Adityapur yesterday when he was entering his flat. The assailants escaped the scene before Kanhaiya’s bodyguard and driver could rush to the scene.

BJP leaders stage protest against murder of Kanhaiya Singh

Jamshedpur, June 30: District BJP leaders rallied round former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh during a protest before Adityapur police station to condemn the killing of contractor Kanhaiya Singh.

Former state BJP spokesperson Amarpreet Singh Kale and Abhay Singh led party leaders during the protest. Terming the incident as an act of cowardice, they gave Adityapur police an ultimatum of 72 hours to arrest the killers of Kanhaiya Singh.

“Adityapur and other parts of Seraikela-Kharsawan have witnessed a spurt in crimes, especially murder. Police should immediately take measures to arrest the cuprits, otherwise we will launch agitation all over Kolhan to put pressure on the department,” said the BJP leaders.

The BJP leaders alleged that the law and order situation in Adityapur had worsened recently.

Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of Arvind Singh, was shot dead late yesterday night by three armed miscreants. He was shot dead when he was just entering his flat. Police said they were probing the incident, sources said.
