Jamshedpur, Nov 10: The firing on Ranchi-based land dealer Shekhar Mahato in Dhalbhumgarh on 26th September last was planned by his business partner Mohammad Saddam Hussain. This was revealed on Thursday by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Prabhat Kumar.
The SSP said the city police have arrested five persons including Saddam in connection with the firing incident. Two guns, five bullets, magazines, five mobile phones and a bike used in the crime have also been recovered from the possession of the accused persons, he said.
The SSP said Saddam had given the contract to kill Shekhar to one Bittu Singh alias Aditya Singh of Road No. 4, Sukhdevnagar, Ranchi. Three more persons, Prakash Choudhary, Monu Tiwary and Hemant Kumar Pandey, were involved in the firing, he said.
The SSP said Saddam had a land dispute with Shekhar which led him to plan his partner’s killing. “Saddam had called Shekhar on 26th September last and asked him to come near the road leading to Modasholi from NH18 in Dhalbhumgarh. No sooner did Shekhar arrive at the spot, firing started on his vehicle. Shekhar escaped safely but his associate Devashsih Mukherjee and driver Ganga Prasad sustained bullet shots. They were taken to Tata Main Hospital,” said the SSP.
