Jamshedpur: Five arrested in Galudih’s Step Industries robbery case

Jamshedpur, March 16: Police here arrested five persons including three criminals in connection with the incident of robbery at Step Industries Private Limited, Galudih, on 9th March last.

Those arrested were identified as Saddam Sheikh, Tarikul Sheikh, Sarikul Sheikh, Masum Mandal and Gayasuddin Sheikh, all residents of West Bengal. Cops also seized 550 kg of Aluminium wire, iron cutter, three mobile phones and a 497 model truck used in the crim e.

SP Rural Nathu Singh Meena said, “The accused persons have a criminal past. We are looking for two to three more accused involved in the crime. Raids are on to nab them.”

Meena said the West Bengal based gang had committed robbery in the Galudih factory. Talking about the modus operandi of the gang, he said, “The gang members first perform a reconnaissance of companies during transportation work and then chalk out plan to commit robbery. Saddam Sheikh has a history of serious crimes. He has been jailed several times in West Bengal.”

The SP said West Bengal police had assisted East Singhbhum police in investigation of the robbery case. A team of 11 officers was made to detect the crime, he said.
