Jamshedpur firing case: Two arrested with arms

Jamshedpur, Sept 18: City police here claimed to have arrested two persons allegedly involved in the firing on one Sunil Thakur of Baikunthnagar under Mango PS within 24 hours of the incident. They also recovered four country-made loaded pistols of bore 0.315 mm, five bullets and two mobile phones from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Suraj alias Madhav Singh, resident of Adarsh Nagar, Road Number 4, Mango and Sunny Yadav, resident of Gurudwara Road, Mango.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Anoop Birtharay, �We had got a tip-off about several criminals being present near the river behind Vastu Vihar. When a police team was sent there, the accused persons opened fire on cops. After a chase, the accused persons were holed up. Loaded arms were recovered from their possession.�

The SSP said a third person, identified as Rahul Singh ailas Munna, also an accused in the firing incident managed to escape from the scene. The three had opened fire on Sunil Thakur before his house and also fired on another person, Vikram Thakur, at Post Office Road, in an attempt to kill them.

Birtharay said the cops involved in the raid would be rewarded for successfully arresting the shootout accused within 24 hours.
