Jamshedpur Fire Department trains staff and shoppers in emergency preparedness

Jamshedpur: In a continued effort to strengthen public awareness and preparedness against fire-related emergencies, the district administration, under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, organised a series of mock drills in prominent malls and commercial complexes across the city on Wednesday.

The fire safety awareness campaign, being run by the Fire Department, reached major locations including Sakchi Super Center, Trends Mall (Sakchi), Dayalvadhavan Tower (Jugsalai), and Trends Mall (Jugsalai). The drills witnessed active participation from employees, security personnel, and shoppers, who were briefed and trained on crucial safety procedures.

Fire department officials conducted live demonstrations on how to act swiftly during a fire emergency. Practical sessions included safe evacuation techniques, effective use of fire extinguishers, and operating other firefighting equipment. Participants were guided on how to maintain composure and avoid panic during such incidents.

Officials emphasized that the goal of these exercises is to enhance the community’s disaster response capacity and ensure that both commercial establishments and the public are well-prepared to deal with emergencies.

“Preparedness and quick response can significantly reduce loss of life and property during fire incidents. These drills are not just a formality but a vital part of our disaster management efforts,” a senior fire department official stated.

The district administration has reiterated its commitment to organizing such awareness programs regularly to build a safer and more informed society.
