Jamshedpur administration orders ODF Plus Model Village verification within a week

Jamshedpur: A review meeting of the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) was held at the Collectorate Auditorium as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Nagendra Paswan, focused on assessing the progress of toilet construction and the implementation of rural water and sanitation schemes across the district.

During the review of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the DDC expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of toilet construction in several blocks. He issued clear instructions to expedite the work and ensure that all targets are achieved within the stipulated time. Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Block Coordinators were directed to set daily targets, monitor progress closely, and submit regular feedback reports.

The District Coordinator was asked to prepare a comprehensive tour plan, conduct field visits to each block, and coordinate with Block Development Officers (BDOs) for holding regular review meetings. The aim is to ensure real-time monitoring and accountability at the grassroots level.

A key focus of the meeting was the verification of ODF Plus Model Villages. The DDC instructed all concerned officials to complete physical verification within seven days, emphasizing the need for transparency and authenticity in reporting status and achievements under the mission.

In reviewing the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the DDC directed officials to hand over all completed water supply schemes to the respective Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) within a week. This, he said, is essential for ensuring community ownership and sustainable operation of the water supply infrastructure, enabling last-mile delivery of clean drinking water.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Engineer of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Jamshedpur/Adityapur, along with all Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, District Coordinator, and Block Coordinators. The administration reiterated its commitment to achieving timely implementation of both missions and delivering clean water and sanitation facilities to every rural household.
