Jamshedpur: FIR lodged against man for exploiting woman

Jamshedpur: Shyamsunderpur police registered an FIR against one Srimanta Singh for allegedly exploiting a woman physically for one year after promising to marry her.

According to police, the FIR was lodged on the direction of the court. The alleged victim lodged a court complaint against the accused after he refused to marry her, cops said.

The accused, a native of Barsole, had allegedly befriended the woman a year ago and started an intimate relationship with her. After a year, the woman asked Srimanta to marry her. But the latter refused and started avoiding her. The woman thereafter reached the local court and lodged a complaint.

Meanwhile, Shyamsunderpur police lodged a case of assault, theft and molestation against two persons in an incident dating back to September 2021. The accused persons, Tapan Das and Manju Das, had allegedly caused hurt to a woman and stolen valuables from her house. Tapan was also accused of molestation, sources said.
