Jamshedpur, Oct 17: Sonari West Samudaik Bhawan for the third year in a row, successfully conducted Durga Puja on the Bhawan ground. On Panchami, the idol of Ma Durga was welcomed, conducting the necessary puja rituals. A musical programme was organized in which local singers — Goutam Sinha, Debasish Chatterjee, Malati Mazumdar, Chobi Biswas, Kuchi Thakur and Gouri Bose enthralled the audience. A dance recital was staged by the local children, which was directed by Sritoma Chatterjee. She came down from Mumbai and in short notice arranged the performance.
The function was hosted by senior teacher of Loyola School, Jyoti Sinha. The audience were thoroughly enjoying the hidden singing talents of the participants, who were all engaged in different other professions.
Due to very early puja timings according to the almac this year, devotees got up early midnight and rushed to the pandal before day break. The active participation in the wee hours was really appreciating.
This year, the puja was organized on the ground in a bigger scale, even with limited funds and the credit goes to president Goutam Bose and his team, who did everything smoothly without any road bumps.
On Sasthi, a musical performance was organized by Goutam Sinha, which was also enjoyed by all.
The sudden demise of Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata, left all shocked in Jamshedpur and other parts of the globe. Members and locals paid glowing tributes to Ratan Tata in the pandal by offering flowers.
A candle lighting event was organized for the women members along with blowing of conch shells. The large number of participants clearly highlighted the enthusiasm of the people. Loud cheers for participants were thoroughly enjoyed by all. True sportsman spirit was highlighted in the games.
Pushpanjali on Saptami, Ashtami, Sandhi puja and Navami puja attracted hundreds of devotees. Bhog, which was another attraction of the puja, witnessed record sales as all hailed the taste.
On Dasami, hundreds of devotees — men, women and children — took part in the Niranjan procession of Devi Durga. Emotionally, after playing with sindoor, Ma Durga with wet eyes bid farewell to all at Dumohini ghat, seeking promise from her — “Asche bochor abar eso” (please come next year).
