Seraikela–Kharsawan touches highest temperature in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, April 19: Jharkhand is currently under yellow alert due to a heat wave, set to last for the next four days until April 22. The mercury has soared above 40 degrees Celsius across most districts of the state, causing discomfort amidst scorching sun and westerly winds. Dr. Abhishek Anand from the Meteorological Center in Ranchi reported that Seraikela-Kharsawan recorded the highest maximum temperature at 44.3 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Jamshedpur at 43.2 degrees Celsius. Relief from the intense heat is unlikely in the coming days, with no respite expected until April 22, when some districts may experience drizzles, causing a marginal drop in temperatures. The relentless heat is forecasted to persist. Various districts have reported maximum temperatures well above 40 degrees Celsius, highlighting the severity of the heat wave.
A yellow alert has been issued for several districts, including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj. These districts are expected to experience strong westerly winds on April 20 and 21. Furthermore, thunderstorms accompanied by drizzles are anticipated on April 23 in certain districts, offering temporary relief from the scorching heat.
