Fake Facebook ID of DC being used to demand money, alert sounded

Jamshedpur, April 19: Cyber ​​criminals have created a fake Facebook profile of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum through which people are being asked to transfer money. A directive has been issued by the District Public Relations Office urging residents to exercise caution. People have been advised against succumbing to the ruse or transferring any funds. The deceptive Facebook account running as DC Jamshedpur, has garnered a substantial friend list since its creation on April 2, with 1,152 persons added thus far and they include journalists, politicians, and general people. To enhance its credibility, the profile even features a photograph of the former Deputy Commissioner. Reports indicate that several individuals have lodged complaints through this fraudulent account. Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has asked people not to engage with these fake accounts and to promptly notify the authorities of any such encounters.
