Jamshedpur FC’s pre-season preparations off to a winning start against Chiangmai United

Chiangmai/Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur FC got off to a bright start with Sameegh Doutie making a lively run on the right flank, giving away an early corner. However, Jamshedpur FC failed to capitalize on the pressure. Another attack from Jamshedpur FC saw sparks of brilliance from our South African wizard, who sent in a delightful cross into the box with Farukh Choudhary heading wide.

It was a humid sunny afternoon in Chiangmai with both sides battling for possession in midfield and cancelling each other’s attacks. The referee had to call for a short water break before resuming the play again.

Souvik Chakrabati received the first caution of the game for a foul on an opposition player. Minutes later, Robin Gurung had to be subbed off due to an injury (cut lip). Shouvik Ghosh came on as his replacement.

Andre Bikey got into the attack setting up Jerry in front of goal, but his effort was saved by the keeper. With 30 minutes passed, Jamshedpur FC looked the better side.

Sameegh Doutie continued to grow into the game, leading the Jamshedpur FC attack. He threaded a lobbed pass for Farukh, but the Chiangmai keeper came rushing off his line to thwart the attack.

Samegh Doutie was the second Jamshedpur FC player to get into the book for a foul.

The referee blew the halftime whistle with the scores locked at 0-0.

Jamshedpur FC got the second-half underway putting early pressure on Chiang Mai, leading to the half’s first corner. A well taken corner was met by Farukh Chaudhary, who headed it wide yet again.

Jamshedpur FC continued to enjoy most of the possession, with Farukh going close to finding the back of the net, but his effort was blocked by the keeper. Pressure was on Chiangmai Utd with their keeper being their stand-out performer so far.

Jamshedpur FC finally broke the deadlock in the 53rd min with Jerry getting his name on the scoresheet. Souvik’s cross from the right flank found an unmarked Jerry, who calmly slotted the ball home into the far right corner.

Steve Coppell decided to make a few changes with the game reaching the hour mark. Andre Bikey made way for Sairut Kima, while Rafique replaces Sanjiban Gosh. Rafique was brought straight into the action making two great saves to deny Chiangmai the lead.

Our Brazilian trickster Trindade Goncalves easily beat the opposition’s defense on the left flank and set up Farukh on goal, but his effort was saved by the keeper.

Souvik continued his tireless runs over the flank and tried to set up Jerry again, but the forward failed to double our lead. Jerry went close to scoring minutes later, but his curling effort hit the post.

With few minutes left on the clock, Chiangmai continued to test Rafique on the counter, but our man in between the sticks stood tall to maintain our lead.

The referee blew the whistle for full-time with Jamshedpur FC holding on to their lead and getting their pre-season tour in Thailand off to a winning start.
