Jamshedpur, February 28: With playoff qualification secured, Jamshedpur FC will look to maintain their momentum as they face Kerala Blasters in an important Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on March 1. The Men of Steel are determined to finish the league stage strongly, with their sights set on climbing higher in the standings.
Head coach Khalid Jamil has emphasized the need for focus despite securing a top-six finish, stating, “This is a crucial game for us. Just because we have qualified doesn’t mean we can relax. Every match matters, and we must approach it with the same intensity and preparation.”
Jamshedpur FC will be buoyed by their recent form, including a dominant 2-0 win over Mohammedan SC, where Ritwik Das and Nikhil Barla found the net. Ritwik’s return from injury has added attacking depth, while Barla’s first ISL goal has given him a confidence boost. The midfield, led by Javi Hernandez and Imran Khan, has been crucial in creating opportunities, while the defense, marshaled by Eze and Pratik Chaudhari, has remained solid.
Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back after a mixed run of results. Playing at home, they will be eager to put on a strong performance in front of their passionate supporters. Jamil acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, “Kerala Blasters are a strong side, and playing away makes it even more important for us to stay disciplined and focused.”
This fixture holds special significance for winger Sreekuttan, who began his career with the Blasters’ reserve team. “Playing in Kerala is always special for me. Now, returning as an opponent in the ISL is a unique moment, and I’m really looking forward to it,” he shared.
With both teams eyeing crucial points, an intense battle is expected in Kochi. Jamshedpur FC will be aiming to keep their winning run intact, while Kerala Blasters will be desperate to put up a strong fight at home. The match will be live on JioHotstar and StarSports3 from 7:30 Pm onward.
