Jamshedpur, Oct 18: Jamshedpur Football Club (JFC) will play five pre-season friendlies in a bid to prepare for the upcoming season of Indian Super League. Players of Tata Steel owned franchisee which arrived in Goa in first week of October will play against Chennaiyin FC on October 27 followed by Bengaluru FC on October 30, Mumbai City FC on November 4. Men of Steel will play two friendlies against Kerala Blasters FC on November 9 and 12. The league is scheduled to start on November 17 while Jamshedpur FC will play its first match on November 21.
JFC made ISL debut in 2017 will be playing its fifth season and would like to turn things around with silverware finish.
The team began it’s pre-season on 10th October with Head Coach Owen Coyle determined to have the players undergo a 6-week pre season. Owen wants the players to find themselves in good rhythm, fitness and camaraderie before they begin their ISL journey.
“It’s important to play friendly matches during a pre-season as it sets a rhythm for the players and they know where they stand in the various aspects of their game. It’s good to have competitive minutes under your belt and it also gives us a chance to try and test new combinations. We are playing some good teams and I am sure the boys are looking forward to it,” said Owen Coyle
Last season, the club finished sixth on the points table, four points off four-placed FC Goa.
