Goa, October 31: Jamshedpur FC will aim to finish their Super Cup group stage campaign on a strong note when they face I-League champions Inter Kashi on Saturday, November 1.
After an inspiring 2-2 draw against NorthEast United, a match that saw the Men of Steel come from two goals down through strikes from Pronay Halder and Messi Bouli, Head Coach Steven Dias believes his side has shown steady improvement and growing confidence.
“After losing to FC Goa, everyone knew how important the NorthEast match was,” said Dias. “The players gave more than their 100%, and I’m really proud of their effort. Even with difficult pitch and weather conditions, they kept fighting. Match by match, we are improving, and I’m confident we’ll carry that focus into the next game.”
While Jamshedpur FC are out of contention for the semi-finals, Dias sees this final group fixture as an opportunity to build on the team’s progress and chemistry. “The biggest positive for me is that the team is improving every game. The understanding, the style of play, the confidence it’s all getting better. That’s a very good sign for the future,” he added.
Inter Kashi also have also exited the tournament, have drawn against North East United FC and lost to FC Goa so far. Facing Inter Kashi, who lifted the I-League title last season, won’t be easy, but Dias is optimistic. “Our group was very tough FC Goa, NorthEast United, and now Inter Kashi, all strong teams. But our mentality is to win. The boys are focused, they’ve trained well, and I’m sure we’ll give our best,” he said.
Steven Dias also had a special message for the supporters who have stood by the team throughout the tournament. “Football is nothing without fans. Even in tough times, they’ve always supported us. I just want to thank them and request that they continue standing by us. The boys will fight and give more than their 100 percent,” he said.
Jamshedpur FC’s clash with Inter Kashi will be their final chance to sign off the Super Cup on a positive note and probably with a runner-up position in the Group, provided they win, and North East United FC doesn’t. The match will be played at Bambolim Stadium at 4.30 PM and will be telecast on Indian Football Youtube Channel.
