Jamshedpur, Sept 16: Young Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Vishal Yadav has secured a spot in the Indian National Football Team’s roster for the upcoming Asian Games 2023. This marks Yadav’s inaugural chance to proudly wear the Blue Tigers’ jersey.
During the 2022-23 Indian Super League season, Vishal’s remarkable performances caught the eye of selectors, eclipsing the achievements of many seasoned Indian goalkeepers. His composed and unflappable demeanor, even in challenging situations, garnered him considerable praise, solidifying his well-deserved position as a representative of the aspirations of over 1.4 billion Indians at the Asian Games 2023.
Vishal Yadav’s journey serves as a testament to the thriving and successful youth development system in Jamshedpur. The renowned Tata Football Academy (TFA) has consistently produced exceptional talents over the years, and Vishal stands as a shining example of the academy’s accomplishments. Progressing through the ranks of the youth teams, he made the leap to the first team in preparation for the 2020-21 Hero Indian Super League season. In a remarkably short span, Vishal has become a cherished figure in the Steel City. His debut for Jamshedpur, which took place against ATK Mohun Bagan (now known as Mohun Bagan Super Giant) in early December, marked the beginning of an impressive journey that continues to unfold.
Expressing his elation, Vishal Yadav said, “My football journey began at the age of 12 when I, like any other young aspiring footballer, dreamt of becoming a professional player. I am immensely proud of this opportunity to represent India, and I am committed to giving my all to support the team. I also look forward to learning from our senior players.”
The forthcoming Asian Games are slated to be held in Hangzhou, China, commencing on September 23.
