Illicit foreign liquor seized in raid, one arrested

Jamshedpur: The Excise Department carried out a major crackdown against illegal foreign liquor trade in Babudih Gwala Basti under the Sidhgora police station area. Acting on the directions of the Assistant Excise Commissioner, a special raid was conducted by the Excise Department, East Singhbhum, leading to the seizure of 15.750 litres of illegal foreign liquor.

The department had received specific inputs about the illegal storage and sale of foreign liquor in the area. Following the tip-off, a team was formed, and a planned raid was executed, during which a large quantity of liquor was recovered from a single location. The seized stock included foreign liquor of King’s Gold and R.S. brands, allegedly stored for illegal distribution.

During the operation, one person involved in the illegal liquor trade was arrested on the spot. The seized liquor has been taken into official custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under relevant sections of the Excise Act. Further interrogation is underway to identify others linked to the racket.

The Excise Department, East Singhbhum, stated that its drive against the manufacture, storage, and sale of illegal liquor will continue unabated. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in such activities. Following the raid, panic has reportedly spread among illegal liquor traders in the area.
