Jamshedpur, July 20: A team of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) had to face violent opposition from several local residents of Kadma when it had gone there to remove encroachment from a parking facility built by Tata Steel at an expense of Rs 50 lakh.

JNAC City Manager Ravi Bharati and Sonal Singh were in their vehicle when several unidentified people pelted stones on them, smashing the windscreens. A team of police officials rescued the JNAC officials and controlled the situation.

Sources said the JNAC had earlier issued warning to the encroachers and asked them to leave the parking facility. But when the encroachers did not heed the warning, a team of JNAC officials accompanied by a team of Tata Steel UISL and Kadma police reached the parking facility to remove encroachment.

Sources said the JNAC officials are planning to register FIR against the violent encroachers.
