Jamshedpur: Electronic appliances worth several crores were gutted in a major fire broke that out at a storehouse in Zone Number 9 under Birsanagar police station area late Monday night.
The fire engulfed a large number of electronic appliances kept in the godown belonging to one Pawan Kumar Singh. Singh is the proprietor of Help Point, an electronic goods shop situated in Sector Market, Telco.
Sources said the building housing the storehouse belongs to Jain Agrawal.
Refrigerators, TVs, ACs, coolers and fans were burnt in the fire. Fire tenders of Tata Motors and Jharkhand government were rushed to the spot. But the fire could not be controlled easily due to narrow roads which prevented entry of fire tenders. Around 2 am, the fire was controlled by four tenders.
Police suspect a short circuit led to the fire mishap. They said they were investigating other possibilities.
