Jamshedpur, Oct 1: An 80-year-old man traveling in a car died on the spot in a head-on collision between a car and a Hyva in Hensda under Kowali police station area of Potka block of East Singhbhum district. After the incident, the driver fled. Locals blocked the Haldipokhar-Odisha road demanding the arrest of the driver.
The demand of the local people was that the Hyva should be seized. Along with the arrest of the driver, a massive police force was deployed at the same spot led by circle officer Imtiaz Ahmed.
Four people including a woman were injured in this incident. They were sent to TMH for treatment. Eighty-year-old Prahlad Sharma, a resident of Haldipokhar, was being taken to Cuttack at 5 am on Friday for treatment when the car was hit by a high-speed Hyva coming from the opposite direction in Hensra, just 3 km from Haldipokhar. The passenger on board died on the spot.
After the incident, the injured Shyamal Sharma, Tanuja Sharma, driver Vibhishan Kalindi and Prakash Mishra have been immediately sent to TMH for treatment with the help of local people.
