Jamshedpur: ED court acquits Akhilesh Singh, properties worth Rs 670 Cr to be freed

Jamshedpur, October 11: Gangster Akhilesh Singh, lodged in Dumka jail, has got relief from the ED (Enforcement Directorate) court.

The court has acquitted Akhilesh Singh due to lack of evidence. Besides, orders have also been given to release the seized property.

The court of PMLA Court Special Judge PC ATL Justice Arvind Kumar pronounced the verdict on Tuesday.

 After the court’s decision, Akhilesh Singh’s assets worth about Rs 670 crore will be freed. In fact, the police had raided flat number 503 of Birsanagar Srishti Garden on March 29, 2017, in which many original documents of purchase of immovable property were found. All the documents were related to Akhilesh’s property and bank accounts.

 Police wrote a letter to ED to seize Akhilesh’s property. After this, on the basis of the FIR registered in Birsa Nagar police station, ED registered a case under Money Laundering Act. ED was involved in the investigation since May 2017. An order to confiscate the property was issued on February 2, 2018.

The documents were in someone else’s name, with Akhilesh’s photo in them. The documents found by the police during the raid were in the names of Manoj Singh, Sanjay Singh, Ajit Singh and Dilip Singh, while the photos were of Akhilesh Singh. Akhilesh bought property in the name of Sanjay Singh in Madhya Pradesh, Arvind Sharma in Delhi, Dilip Singh in Haryana, Ajit Singh in Uttarakhand and Manoj Kumar Singh in Uttar Pradesh.

To deceive the police, he had also made voter card, Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license and gas connection in these names.

Akhilesh had purchased two flats in the name of his father-in-law Chandan Singh in B Block of OAK Residency in Seramtoli, Ranchi.

He used to run a real estate business in Varanasi with his father-in-law under the name of Kuber Construction. Akhilesh has also changed the name of his wife Garima Singh and bought many properties.

Based on the FIR lodged at Birsa Nagar police station, ED had registered a case under the Money Laundering Act and had issued an order to confiscate the property on February 2, 2018, Dehradun. , Land, flats and houses were confiscated in Banaras, Jaipur, Noida.

Police recovered 17 PAN cards, three Aadhaar, 11 voter IDs and seven driving licenses from the flat of Birsanagar Srishti Garden. Land and house documents were also confiscated. The police had registered an FIR in the Birsanagar police station on the statement of the then City DSP Animesh Naithani against gangster Akhilesh Singh and his wife Garima Singh for making fake documents.

Gangster Akhilesh Singh had allegedly built properties worth billions in many cities of six states. He had purchased property in Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand under a fake name.
