BJP confident of victory by record margin

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency has turned into a hot seat following BJP leader Saryu Roy filing nomination against Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Now efforts are being made by the opposition parties to declare Roy a common candidate to stop division of votes and ensure his victory.

At present, apart from Das and Roy, Congress Partys national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh and JVMs central secretary Abhay Singh have also filed their candidature from the coveted seat.
BJP district head Dinesh Kumar said that even in 2005, when party denied ticket to then heavyweight candidate Mrigendra Pratap Singh from Jamshedpur West seat, he joined RJD just before polls and Lalu Prasad gave him a ticket from the seat which he lost to BJPs Saryu Roy. He claimed that even Roy would also meet the same fate after quitting the party and contesting as an independent candidate.

We need to fight unitedly if we want to ensure victory in Jamshedpur East. Defeating incumbent Chief Minister is not an easy task. Though Congress Partys national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh and JVMs central secretary Abhay Singh have also filed their nomination but it is important that we field a common candidate against Das. We need to stop division of votes, said a district Congress leader, who wished not to be quoted.
He said that though last day for withdrawal of nomination papers is November 21 (Thursday) while the scrutiny will take place on Tuesday, they are keeping fingers crossed some miracle to happen.
Some senior BJP leaders have also approached our party leaders and JVM Supremo Babulal Marandi to withdraw candidature of their respective aspirants. But the leaders are yet to make an official announcement in this regard, he said.
Polls for all six assembly seats Jamshedpur West, Jamshedpur East, Jugsalai, Potka, Ghatshila and Baharagora are scheduled in the second phase on December 7.
Meanwhile, the ground-level workers in BJP are also a confused lot after Saryu Roy filed nomination from Jamshedpur East. Though Raghubar Jee has a strong hold in Jamshedpur East but Saryu Roy can cash on sentiments of the local people by raising issues like failure of Das to provide legal right to the residents of 86 bastis. I think the Chief Minister only used the promise as an election jumla and nothing else. He has been misleading people on the issues concerning 86 bastis. The slum dewellers are still waiting for the rights, said a local level BJP worker. He said even closure of industries in Kolhan might work against the CM.
