Jamshedpur, Aug 19: Preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festival have begun in full swing in Agrico, where the Durga Puja Committee plans to construct a grand pandal using shining aluminium sheets for the first time. The foundation ritual was conducted at Agrico Club House ground on Tuesday in the presence of committee officials and members.
The committee has allocated Rs 12.5 lakh for the pandal and Rs 1.8 lakh for the idol. Skilled artisans from Contai, West Bengal, have been commissioned to create the unique aluminium structure, while the idol will be crafted by expert sculptors from Beldah.
Committee president Y.P. Singh, general secretary Bhupendra Singh, treasurer Sanjay Singh Bablu and others attended the ceremony. The committee has also announced an expansion of the fair this year to make it more attractive. “This year’s pandal will be a special attraction for the city,” said an organizer.
