Jamshedpur: With the Puja coming closer, city police have geared up vigilance in the marketplaces and also in banks for keeping criminals at bay during the pre-Puja ambiance.
The main objective to increase vigilance in and around the marketplaces also around the banks is to ensure hassle-free shopping for the Puja.
For beefing up the policing in the public places including the markets, the police have decided not only to increase patrolling in and around the marketplaces, but also has decided to increase the number of mobile tigers (cops on bikes) and also the number of traffic police.
Revealing about the steps being taken to provide extra security to those coming for Puja shopping, a senior police official said that as it is evident that the employees of Tata Steel and other sister concerns of the steel major will be getting yearly bonus, the rush in the market is bound to increase.
“This being a pre-Puja ambiance coupled with bonus money coming to the Tata Steel employees’ pocket, the markets are bound to be bustled with shoppers. Keeping this in view, we have decided to take certain concrete measures for the safety and security of the people. We have not only decided to increase the patrolling, but also increase the mobile cops,” he said.
The senior officer informed that the vigilant cops have been instructed to pick up anyone moving in the marketplaces without any specific purpose and for carrying out random searches of suspected criminals. He said that the monitoring of the CCTV cameras has also been beefed up so that the police may swing into action in the event of any criminal act at the markets or on the streets.
He pointed out that the policemen have also been instructed to remain watchful around the bank premises and carry out random searches of the suspected criminals standing near any banks.
He stated that the Sakchi and Bistupur area will be of priority for intensified patrolling right from 9 am till 10 pm. He said that isolated roads leading to the Bistupur and Sakchi markets will also be under constant vigilance of the police.
Notably, a considerable amount will be distributed among employees of Tata Steel. Apart from Tata Steel, there are companies like Tata Motors Ltd, Tinplate Company, TRF, Tata Growth Shop and Tata Timken Ltd which will pay the bonus on the occasion of Durga Puja.
