Jamshedpur: In a significant blow to the local narcotics trade, the Ulidih police arrested a drug peddler on Wednesday and seized 63 pouches of brown sugar. The accused, identified as Manoj Kumar Das (alias Kallu), a resident of Rajendra Nagar on Kunwar Singh Road, has been sent to judicial custody.
The Operation
Acting on a specific tip-off received on Wednesday morning, the police targeted a dilapidated house within the Subarnarekha Project residential premises along NH-33. According to the Station House Officer (SHO), the site was being used as a hub for illegal drug distribution.
Under the direct instructions of the City SP, a special raiding team led by the Patamda DSP cordoned off the area. The swift operation led to the apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of contraband weighing 5.01 grams.
Legal Action
The police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. While Manoj Kumar Das is currently in jail, authorities are conducting further investigations to trace the supply chain and identify potential accomplices involved in the drug network across the city.
