Jamshedpur: Drug Addict Murders Father After Argument

Jamshedpur: A domestic dispute turned tragic in Chamaijuri village under Potka police station limits on Saturday evening, when a 20-year-old son allegedly attacked his father with a sharp weapon, leading to the latter’s death during treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Aniruddh Tanti (56), who succumbed to his injuries late Saturday night at Sadar Hospital.

According to reports, the accused, Vijay Patro, was allegedly addicted to intoxicants, and his family had repeatedly urged him to give up the habit. Aniruddh had also been regularly counselling his son against substance abuse. The argument reportedly erupted over the same issue and soon escalated into a violent confrontation.

In a fit of rage, Vijay allegedly assaulted his father with a sharp-edged weapon, leaving him critically injured. Local residents rushed to the spot and immediately shifted Aniruddh to Potka Hospital, from where he was referred to Sadar Hospital due to the severity of his condition. He, however, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and took the accused into custody for questioning. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem on Sunday.
