Jamshedpur, Sep 12: Congress National Working Committee’s permanent invitee and former Jamshedpur MP Dr Ajoy Kumar on Sunday submitted a memorandum to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar demanding reopening of Jubilee Park and allowing it to function as it was during normal times. He urged the DC to direct Tata Steel Utilities Infrastructure Services Limited (formerly JUSCO) to reopen the Jubilee Park fully for the people of Jamshedpur and tourists from other places. DC assured that the matter will be taken up with the Tata Steel UISL management and the soon the park will reopen.
Dr Ajoy Kumar stated in the letter that the state government had allowed parks to reopen last month, easing the lockdown restrictions, but Tata Steel UISL did not respond to the directives.
Earlier on September 11, Dr Ajoy met morning walkers at Jubilee Park and led a protest march against the district administration. He said that if Jubilee Park was not reopened as in normal times, a mass protest would be organized. The Congress leader gave the slogan ‘Chalo Jubilee Park-Kholo Jubilee Park’.
He had earlier requested Tata Steel Utilities Infrastructure and Services Limited (formerly JUSCO) to reopen Jubilee Park. He had also requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren to intervene in the matter.
