Jamshedpur Dog Show laden with awe and excitement concludes

Draws large crowds

Jamshedpur, Jan 8: The dog show organised by Jamshedpur Kennel Club (JKC) at Loyola School Ground in Northern Town came to a close on Sunday.

Club official informed that over 400 dogs from 43 breeds (highest ever) participated this year.

12 breeds like Schipperke, Welsh Corgi Cardigan, Welsh Corgi Pembroke, Jack Russel Terrier, Chow Chow, Samoyed, Bichon Frise, Pekingese and Poodle Toy which participated for the first time at JKC were the major highlight, he said.

The show held after two years of Covid hiatus drew large crowds.

Sweta Ray of Kadma has been attending dog shows since last five years and makes it a point to come out to the venue every year.

“I’m a dog lover that’s the main thing,” she said. “I love dogs and I’m especially fond of larger dogs. The bigger they are, there’s more (of them) to love.”

“This was a great experience to be here and witness these lovely pets. Such events are always welcome,” said Khushi Arora from Sonari.

The 72nd and 73rd All Breed Championship Show was held on the concluding day on Sunday.

The day started with benching of exhibits followed by 72nd and 73rd All Breed Championship Show. In the evening prize distribution for All Breed Show was held.

International judges Wipas Thaweekitkul from Thailand, Youngsik Kang from South Korea, Dennis C.W. Lim from Malaysia along with Indian judges Anjeli Vaid and T Preetham picked the winners in each category.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel was present at the guest during the prize distribution function.

Earlier on Saturday, the 71st All Breed championship was conducted on day 2.

The centre of attraction on the second day was Beagle Specialty Show and the Labrador Retriever Specialty Show.

57 dogs participated in Beagle Specialty show and 54 in Labrador Specialty show.

Show this time received record entries from all over the country as dog owners from Kolkata, Bengaluru, Uttar Pradesh and others parts of India are part of the show in Jamshedpur which is one of the biggest shows in Eastern India.   

Apart from the popular breeds like German Shephard, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Doberman, Dalmatian, Boxer, Beagles, Daschund, pugs this year special Indian breeds like Caravan Hound, Pashmi and Rajapalayam participated.
