Jamshedpur, Aug 5: A mob of women reportedly drove away several security personnel of Jusco when the latter came to Dhatkidih Medical Basti to deliver evacuation notice to local residents, sources said.
Later, A mob of residents of Dhatkidih Medical Basti staged a demonstration before Bistpur police station to protest the incident.
Sources said the incident took place around 11.30 pm when the security personnel went to the said locality to serve the notice. No sooner did they reach the slum, the women put up strong resistance and asked the security personnel to leave. When the security staff tried to explain the matter contained in the notice to the residents, the women got irked and compelled them to go away, sources said.
Suresh Mukhi, a local Congress leader, said senior Jusco official Dhananjay Mishra had visited the flats on 2nd August last with engineers and inspected the buildings. After the inspection, the engineers said the flats had become dilapidated and dangerous for residential purpose. In the notice, it was said that GA and G3 blocks were in shambles.
