Jamshedpur: Devotees to offer prayers at 52 Chhath ghats across city

Jamshedpur, Oct 26: East Singhbhum district administration has pulled its socks for Chhath. Preparations for the festival are in full swing. Devotees would be offering obeisance to the Sun God at 52 Chhath ghats spread across the city.

In view of the festival, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav has directed the special officers of all three municipal bodies of the city to ensure cleaning of all Chhath ghats within next two days. She also directed them to identify all danger zones in rivers and ponds and keep necessary backup of divers, boats, medical team, ambulance and other necessary equipments at the venues.

There are 36 Chhath ghats in Jamshedpur Notified Area, 13 ghats in Mango and three ghats in Jugsalai. JNAC Special officer Sanjay Kumar said cleaning work was being carried out on war footing. He said a control room would be set up to keep an eye on devotees. Drone cameras would also be pressed into service, he said.

MNAC Executive Officer Suresh Yadav said cleaning of all Chhath ghats would be completed in time. Jugsalai Nagar Parishad Executive Officer Jagdish Prasad Yadav said there are two river ghats and one articificial ghat in the area. He said cleaning of all venues was being done in full speed.
