Jamshedpur: DEO inspects District and C-Vigil Control Rooms ahead of Jharkhand Assembly Elections

Jamshedpur: To ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024, District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal conducted an inspection of the District Control Room and C-Vigil Control Room located at Sakchi Police Station. These control rooms have been set up to monitor and manage election-related activities, particularly in relation to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

During his visit,  Mittal reviewed the operations of both control rooms and interacted with the personnel stationed there. He emphasized the importance of remaining active 24×7 and instructed the teams to respond promptly to any complaints, especially those regarding violations of the MCC. He urged the personnel to ensure intensive checking at vehicle check nakas and use webcasting for close monitoring to prevent illegal activities that could influence the election process. Specifically, he highlighted the need to prevent the illegal transport of liquor, drugs, cash, and gift items, as well as to keep anti-social elements from entering the district.

 Mittal also instructed the control room staff to log and monitor seized materials through the designated app, coordinating with all relevant departments to take swift action.

The District Election Officer reiterated that complaints received through the C-Vigil app must be addressed within 100 minutes. The C-Vigil app, designed for citizens to report violations of the MCC, allows for complaints regarding bribery, distribution of money, gift items, and liquor, as well as the illegal display of posters, unauthorized political meetings, and religiously inflammatory speeches. Upon receiving such complaints, the Returning Officer is responsible for dispatching the nearest Flying Squad Team (FST) to investigate and take action.

Furthermore,  Mittal instructed that any complaints regarding social media violations of the MCC should also be dealt with promptly through the Social Media Cell and Control Room, ensuring that election activities remain fair and transparent.
