Ghatsila, Sept 7: A team of health workers from the Subdivisional Hospital on Thursday carried out inspection in various colonies of Ghatshila as a measure to contain the rapid spread of Dengue and Chikungunya. During the inspection carried out in 232 residences, mosquito larvae were found in and around 39 houses. Anti-larval spraying was carried out in all affected houses and the surrounding areas including alleys.
The Health Department team also conducted awareness campaigns on dengue, Chikungunya, malaria and acquainted residents with preventive measures through public announcement system. A mong the preventive measures suggested by the team included ensuring non-accumulation of water in any broken or discarded containers, tires; using mosquito nets; wearing clothes that cover entire body including legs and arms; reporting and seeking medical attention at the nearest health centre in case of symptoms like headaches, high fever, or loss of appetite are felt.
It may be mentioned that the local legislator had held a meeting with the SDO at the Subdivisional Hospital and urged the Health Department and the administration following which action to control dengue and other related ailments has been taken up on a war footing.
The Health Department team included team included SAI Dulal Hembram, MPW Tapan Ghosh, Suresh Munda, Bablu Mukhi, Malay Tudu, Sahaiyas, and BTTC.
