Jamshedpur, Sept 26: Akram Khan, Central Vice President of Jharkhand Yuva Morcha met Sports Minister at his residence in Ranchi, demanding the construction of a stadiumon the vacant plot of Jawaharnagar 15 in Mango.
Handing a letter to the effect to the Minister, Akram said that the proposal for sports infrastructure in minority concentration areas by the Government of India under PMGVK scheme was sought by the Ministry of Minority Welfare, Government of India in 2020. It was pointed out in the context that there was a vacant plot of land in Mango Jawaharnagar number 15 that had become a meeting point of antisocial elements and the construction of a stadium would discourage such activities.
The Morcha vice president said that young people of the area were denied of adequate sports facilities because of infrastructure inadequacy. Akram Khan stated that with the Jharkhand government promoting sports, developing a stadium in the Mango area would encourage many sports persons from not only the locality but also from nearby areas. Khan said that Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar had taken a very positive initiative in this direction. Sports Minister Hafizul Hasan gave credence to the stadium proposal and assured that necessary steps would be initiated.
