Jamshedpur, March 1: The steel city is all set to celebrate the 178th birth anniversary of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, on March 3, 2017. The founder�s say celebration is aimed at paying homage to the visionary, who paved the way for the development of an industrial India.
As in previous years, all divisions of the Company, and other Tata Group Companies based in Jamshedpur, will pay homage to the Founder on that day. Several events have been lined up for the occasion, which will commence on March 2 and continue till March 5.
�March 3 is a special time for Jamshedpur as the whole city is decked up to celebrate the founder’s day. The 178th founder’s day celebration becomes much more special as Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, will be part of the festivity after several years’, said Sunil Bhaskaran, vice-president, corporate services, Tata Steel.
Addressing a press conference at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday, Bhaskaran said, ‘Tata Steel has taken initiative to develop Jamshedpur into a smart and more sustainable city with the inauguration of Integrated Command and Control Centre for Management of City Services’. He further said that the Command Centre situated near Town Electrical Office, Northern Town has been set up with joint effort of Jusco, Tata Steel, Tata Communications and Kernel Sphere, a Hyderabad based start-up.
The theme of this year founder’s day celebration is digitalisation. Several LED screens will be put informing as to where digitalisation has been adopted by company and also help promote ditalisation among the people of Jamshedpur, added Bhaskaran.
Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco, said, �As previous years major islands, parks, roundabouts have been illuminated along with the laser show at Beldih lake, which received very good response last year.� Simultaneous illumination of Bhetiya Park, Kadma, Golmuri Park, Eye Hospital, Sakchi, Beldih Lake, Jayanti Sarovar (inside Jubilee Park), Sir Dorabji Tata Park along with Jubilee Park for wider access to everyone in the city will be done.
Kulvin Suri, chief, corporate communications, Tata Steel, said, Ishaat Hussain, director, Tata Sons will inauguration �Technical Exhibition- 2017� at SNTI.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman Tata Sons, will switch on the Illumination at the Founder’s Statue in Jubilee Park at 6:30 pm on March 2, 2017. It will be open for public viewing from March 2 to 5, 2017 from 6 pm to 10 pm while Andrew Robb, Director, Tata Steel will inaugurate Exhibition on J N Tata at 6.50 pm near Nicco Park on March 2.
