Jamshedpur DDC underlines roles of VAF, ELC in preparation of voters’ list

Jamshedpur, August 14: Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Manish Kumar, while chairing a meeting of Nodal Officers of Voters’ Awareness Forum (VAF) and Election Literacy Club (ELC), both formed to acquaint the youth and the future voters on the importance of voting in a democracy, stressed on the roles and objectives of the two bodies. Deputy Election Officer, Priyanka Singh was present in the meeting. The nodal officers from various private companies and representatives of Inter and Degree Colleges were urged to participate actively and contribute to the preparation of voters’ list. The DDC, while emphasizing the importance of every eligible voter’s participation in fortifying democracy, stressed, “Every individual plays an important role in creating awareness of voting and its importance. In companies and colleges where ELC and VAF are yet to be established, the move to introduce them should begin immediately.”

DDC Manish Kumar said that particular attention was to be paid to the collection and filling up of Form-6 for students who would turn 18 years of age on October 1, 2024 or, would touch that age by October 1, 2023. These applications could be submitted through the Voter Helpline app or voters.eci.gov.in

The other point of note that was discussed by the DDC was the appointment of Campus Ambassadors at all +2 schools and colleges to ensure effective dissemination of election-related information.

Nodal officers of companies were also urged to facilitate Form-6 applications for personnel within their organizations who had not yet been registered in the voters’ list. They were urged to furnish information regarding deceased or transferred employees to facilitate the necessary amendments in the voters’ list.

The meeting discussed the significance of Voter Help Line Number 1950, a toll-free service providing essential election-related information to the citizens.
